Jo-Mei Games launched the beautiful looking Sea of Solitude yesterday and where it was listed on Steam up until June, it switched to an EA Original game as of the announcement at E3. This basically means its only available on EA’s Origin store. Alongside the games launch trailer we are also passed the Sea of Solitude system requirements to see how well our gaming PC’s can run it.

Thats not too tough for most people, especially the min reqs, to get this pretty new indie title to run. Is this an indie title? The studio, Jo-Mei Games, is usually referred to in the press as an indie studio but they definitely now seem to have some close friends at EA. And EA’s Origin store is the only place you can purchase this game at the moment. So it seems like Sea of Solitude, being published by EA means its not an indie developer, right?
Anyway, on with the system hardware assessment for SoS.
Your PC is going to require something as powerful as a GeForce GTX 960 2GB/Radeon R9 290 and it should be paired with something in the performance range as either a Ryzen R3 1300X/Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz CPU. This combo would put you on the way to meeting the recommended system requirements for Sea of Solitude. The frame rate from this PC setup would be in the region of 60 Frames Per Second on High graphics settings on 1080p monitor resolution.
One part of the specs to take note of is the jump up from minimum RAM being listed as 4GB and increases up to 16GB for recommended requirements. Now lets eyeball the min reqs where you will need a Radeon HD 7850 graphics card with a Core i3-2120 3.3GHz or Phenom II X4 965 processor to reach the minimum Sea of Solitude specs, run on low graphics setting and 720p. As mentioned already, you will only need 4 GB system memory for min specs. To meet recommended your graphics card will need to be capable of running DirectX 12.
In general recommended specs will need something like a 4 year old PC to run Sea of Solitude.
We noticed you can also pick up a copy of Sea of Solitude via UK Amazon for £17.99 should you wish. You will given a game serial code by Amazon and you will still need to use the code over on EA’s Origin store. But at least there is another place where we can purchase the game outside of EA’s Origin.
