Rumour: Nvidia to add support for hundreds of ReShade effects in next GeForce driver


While not to everyone’s taste, ReShade filters are immensely popular these days among users who want to fine-tune post-processing effects in order to tweak a game’s visual style. It now appears as if Nvidia is getting in on the action in an official capacity as well, with various reports surfacing that a new GeForce Experience driver update will add officially supported ReShade filters which can be toggled on a per game basis.

Nvidia will roll in a big range of these ReShade FX shaders which can be tweaked to fine-tune every facet of post processing effects. This would include vibrancy tweaks, bump mapping, colour filters, lens modes, film grains, bloom effects, chromatic aberration, SMAA, fog, ambient lighting, screen space reflections, ambient occlusion, and more.

The reports claim Nvidia will offer GeForce owners the ability to “tap into hundreds of filters”, altering colour schemes, saturation, or just anything you care to put your mind top.

All of these effects are perfectly achievable right now if you put the legwork in, but Nvidia rolling support into GeForce Experience would certainly make the experience much easier for the layman.

If these reports are true, we’ll have to wait and see just how comprehensive the ReShade support is from Nvidia when its next graphics card driver update drops next week. 

It’s shaping up to be a busy week for Nvidia, with all rumours pointing toward toward a launch for the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB. This video card appears to be a like-for-like replacement for the GeForce GTX 1660, offering identical specs bar the use of faster GDDR6 memory which helps dramatically improve memory bandwidth.
